Custom dressage Freestyles Designed Around Your Horse, Your Style, and Your Competitive Goals

From First level debuts to championship-level performances, Rhythm & Blues Freestyles creates musical freestyles that feel personal, polished, and memorable in the ring.

Music should do more than fill time in the arena. It should highlight your horse, express your style, and create a performance people remember.

Custom freestyles, built around the team

The right music can transform a freestyle from a pattern set to sound into a performance with presence, polish, and personality. It should feel seamless. Intentional. True to the horse underneath you. And when it comes together, it should feel effortless in the ring.

This is the heart of my work.

I design custom freestyles that are built to complement the horse’s rhythm, energy, expression, and movement while also capturing the rider’s taste, personality, and goals for the team. Some riders come to me with a clear concept already in mind. Others only know the feeling they want when they enter the ring. Both are perfect places to begin.

Whether the final result is elegant and classical, bold and cinematic, dramatic and theatrical, or entirely unexpected, the goal is always the same: to create a freestyle that feels distinctive, cohesive, and deeply suited to the team performing it.

Because a great freestyle should feel like it belongs to you

The most successful freestyles are not just technically functional. They feel personal. They create atmosphere. They enhance the horse’s strengths, support the flow of the ride, and leave the rider feeling more connected to the performance rather than boxed in by it.

A custom freestyle should not feel generic or interchangeable. It should feel like an extension of the team itself.

That is why I approach each project as an individual collaboration. I look at the quality of the horse’s movement, the overall energy of the ride, and the personality behind the performance. From there, I shape music that flatters, strengthens, and elevates what is already there.

The result is a freestyle that does more than “work”. It feels intentional from beginning to end.

Creative Vision Backed By Competitive Experience

Creating a successful freestyle takes more than good musical taste. It requires an understanding of movement, timing, scoring, presentation, and what truly enhances a horse and rider in the ring.

As a USEF “r” judge, professional dressage trainer, and FEI competitor, I bring both artistic instinct and competitive perspective to every project. My background allows me to approach freestyle design with an eye not only for musical impact, but also for harmony, suitability, and the overall impression a performance creates.

I hold Silver and Bronze Freestyle Bars and have taken seven of my own freestyles down centerline at US Dressage Finals. That experience shapes the way I listen, design, and refine. I understand how much the right music can influence not only the audience’s experience, but the rider’s confidence and connection to the performance itself.

Every freestyle I create is built with care, intention, and a genuine respect for the individuality of the team.

A collaborative process with an artistic eye

No two horses move alike. No two riders perform alike. And no two freestyles should sound the same.

What sets this work apart is the balance between personalization and polish. I do not simply lay music over a test. I build each freestyle around the qualities that make a team unique.

That may mean emphasizing brilliance and expression, creating elegance, capturing power and drama, or shaping something playful, emotional, or unexpected. The goal is always to create a freestyle that feels exciting, memorable, and unmistakably your own.

Freestyles with Character, Atmosphere, and Identity

Every project begins with the same question: what will best bring this horse and rider team to life?

Sometimes the answer is elegant and lyrical. Sometimes it is bold, modern, dramatic, or cinematic. Sometimes it draws on a beloved theme or an unexpected musical direction that becomes unforgettable in the ring.

WHAT RIDERS REMEMBER MOST

A freestyle is deeply personal. It becomes part of how you present your horse, your partnership, and your style in the ring.

One of my favorite parts of this work is hearing what riders feel when they listen to their finished music for the first time. The best feedback is never just that the music fits. It is that the freestyle feels right-exciting, emotional, powerful, fun and truly reflective of the team.
