Custom Dressage Freestyles Designed Around Your Horse, Your Style, and Your Competitive Goals
From First level debuts to championship-level performances, Rhythm & Blues Freestyles creates musical freestyles that feel personal, polished, and memorable in the ring.
Music should do more than fill time in the arena. It should highlight your horse, express your style, and create a performance people remember.
Custom freestyles, built around the team
A great freestyle should feel seamless, expressive, and true to the horse beneath you. At Rhythm & Blues Freestyles, I create custom music for dressage and western dressage riders who want more than a simple soundtrack. Each freestyle is designed to suit the horse’s rhythm, energy, and way of going while also reflecting the rider’s personality, taste, and goals.
Whether you already have a clear vision or no idea where to begin, I help shape a freestyle that feels both personal and competitive.
The most successful freestyles are not just technically functional. They feel personal. They tell a story. They enhance the horse’s strengths, support the flow of the ride, and leave the rider feeling more connected to the performance.
A custom freestyle should not feel generic or interchangeable. It should feel like an extension of the team itself.
That is why I approach each project as an individual collaboration, shaping music that flatters, strengthens, and elevates what is already there.
Creative Vision Backed by Competitive Experience
Creating a successful freestyle takes more than good musical taste. It requires an understanding of movement, timing, scoring, presentation, and what truly enhances a horse and rider in the ring.
As a USEF “r” judge, professional dressage trainer, and FEI competitor, I bring both artistic instinct and competitive perspective to every project. My judging background gives me specific training in freestyle criteria and scoring, which shapes the way I design for suitability, harmony, and overall impression as well as musical impact.
I hold Silver and Bronze Freestyle Bars and have taken seven of my own freestyles down centerline at US Dressage Finals. Every freestyle I create is built with care, intention, and a genuine respect for the individuality of the team.
A Collaborative Process with an Artistic Eye
No two horses move alike. No two riders perform alike. And no two freestyles should sound the same.
What sets this work apart is the balance between personalization and polish. I do not simply layer music over a test. I build each freestyle around the qualities that make a team unique, with close attention to the horse’s style, the rider’s goals, and the overall identity of the performance.
That may mean emphasizing brilliance and expression, creating elegance and sweep, capturing power and drama, or shaping something playful, emotional, or unexpected. The goal is always to create a freestyle that feels exciting, memorable, and unmistakably your own.
Freestyles with Character, Atmosphere, and Identity
Every project begins with the same question: what will best bring this horse-and-rider team to life?
Sometimes the answer is elegant and lyrical. Sometimes it is bold, modern, dramatic, or cinematic. Sometimes it draws on a beloved theme or an unexpected musical direction that becomes unforgettable in the ring.

What riders remember most
A freestyle is deeply personal. One of my favorite parts of this work is hearing what riders feel when they listen to their finished music for the first time.
The best feedback is never just that the music fits. It is that the freestyle feels right—exciting, emotional, powerful, fun, and truly reflective of the team.
